Integrative Medicine

Integrative Medicine is a growing medical approach that uses both conventional and complementary therapies to address whole-person health. Integrative Medicine emphasizes the therapeutic relationship between practitioner and patient, is informed by evidence, and addresses all aspects of lifestyle.

The Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona outlines the following as The Defining Principles of Integrative Medicine:

  • Patient and practitioner are partners in the healing process.

  • All factors that influence health, wellness, and disease are taken into consideration, including mind, spirit, and community, as well as the body.

  • Appropriate use of both conventional and alternative methods facilitates the body's innate healing response.

  • Effective interventions that are natural and less invasive should be used whenever possible.

  • Integrative medicine neither rejects conventional medicine nor accepts alternative therapies uncritically.

  • Good medicine is based in good science. It is inquiry-driven and open to new paradigms.

  • Alongside the concept of treatment, the broader concepts of health promotion and the prevention of illness are paramount.

  • Practitioners of integrative medicine should exemplify its principles and commit themselves to self-exploration and self-development.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral from my child’s PCP to make an appointment to AIP?

You do not need a referral from your child’s PCP to make an appointment, but we welcome any information or records you’d like to bring or send.

Do you accept insurance?

While it may change in the future, we are only self-pay at this time.

Where is Arkansas Integrative Pediatrics located?

Our clinic is inside a business office building in the historic Hillcrest neighborhood of Little Rock, Arkansas.  Once you’ve scheduled your appointment, the exact address and parking instructions will be included in new patient information sent by email.

I’ve scheduled my child’s appointment.
What next?

Within three business days from the time you schedule your child’s initial appointment, you will receive intake form links via email.  It is important that you use your preferred email address when forming your AIP account and making appointments.

Do you offer telehealth visits?

Because we serve children from across the state, we do sometimes offer telehealth visits to Returning Patients.  Initial Visits and first Follow Up Visits really do need to be in person.

If my child needs refills on their regular medications, can you just send them in to save me a trip to their pediatrician/PCP?

It is important that your child maintains their regular visit schedule to their pediatrician.  We will not send medication prescriptions.

We forgot to go in for my child’s last round of shots, can we just get them there?

We do not offer vaccines at AIP.

What is AIP’s cancelation policy?

Because we schedule such long appointment times, a missed appointment impacts several people.  If you realize you will not be able to make an appointment, we ask that you reschedule as soon as possible.  Missed appointments and appointments cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled time will result in a $30 fee.

Do you draw lab at AIP?

We refer any lab studies to outside laboratory facilities like Quest.  Most, but not all, of the labs ordered are likely to be covered by insurance.

Why do I need to enter and save my credit card information?

We ask that you keep an active card on file so that we can bill you after your appointment and avoid spending face to face time on billing transactions.  Also, it helps us enforce the late charge policy.
